Please Touch Museum

10/28/2011

Matilda enjoyed the puppet show so much last week that I decided to take her again this week. She was equally as enthused to ride on the bus as she was to see the puppet show. Ah the simple amusement of a toddler.
This week she wanted to ride on the rabbit

A scene from the blacklight puppet show
Eating lunch in the carousel room. Man this child can eat. She ate a string cheese, 8 brussel sprouts, 1 torolleni, some fish, two cuplets of grapes, and two cuplets of raspberries. Maybe that's the secret to the 3-hour nap she proceeded to take later that day. She was exhausted and FULL.
Buying a melon at the grocery store
More of the puppet show
Love this picture! The lady in the background is Kristy and her daughter Belle, whom you can't really see, is in Matilda's art class.

Three Bears Park

10/26/2011

I love taking Matilda to the playground. I take her To four different ones. My favorite is three bears park. It's in the heart of Society Hill and is really nice! The second is Seger Park and it is located behind Superfresh. The third one I take her to is Starr Garden Park and it's a block from her house. I try not to take her to Starr park in the afternoon because there are always guys there playing pick-up basketball and their language is less than favorable.

The last park I take her to is at the McCall School that is located right behind her house. This playground has the most variety of equipment to climb up but doesn't have any swings.

All in all there are soo many options for Mat to run around and be active and the playgrounds are all very colorful, enabling me to work on her colors with her as well as counting.
She likes going down on her tummy. Sometimes this is done face-first and othertimes it's feet first. If she goes down feet-first and on her stomach, she says she's going down "on her toes."
Depending on where we are coming from or where we are going, I like to stop at Starbucks and grab a non-fat Iced White Chocolate Moca. Mat has a banana.
At Three bears park. Her hair looks a little ridiculous here because she had just pulled her barrette out.

Playdates

This is a conglomerate of many different playdates that Matilda has had over the past month.
Meet Maisy, Sarah and Jackson's dog. She is Mat's newest friend. Matilda will ask me all the time if she can go over and play with Masiy and Cassidy. Cassidy is Sarah's other golden retriever. The two dogs are 6 and 11 so they are a lot more mellow than Max.
B and J work with this little girl's parents at UPenn. Her name is Sarah and she is absolutely adorable. She always tries to engage Matilda, but Mat is still learning how to interact with other kids her age.
Meet Stella and Mateo. I met their nanny, Nikki, one day at nest. We usually meet up with them on Tuesdays at the park after we go to the library.
Matilda did like coloring with Jackson and she let me spend some time hanging out with Sarah.
Stella and Matilda at Seger Park
Mat decided she wanted to wear her hat. This is a rare occurrance.
Coloring with chalk in Rittenhouse Square
More coloring
Chalk is very messy but so much fun.
You can see how Matilda gravitated to me instead of getting close to Stella for this picture.

Independence Seaport Museum

10/24/2011

The museum itself was pretty boring, but I thought the ship (Olympia) and the submarine (Becuna) were pretty cool!
Cheese!
She loves to yell random words when she's posing for my pictures
This is where the sailors slept!
Getting ready to go down into the submarine
It was a self-guided tour. I think that it would have been cool to at least have some people in costume on the ship and submarine to provide visitors with more in-depth historical information.
Yeah she wasn't feeling this picture
Soo cute! After I took this picture she said to me: "Cherith I want to eat, eat, EATTTTTT"

Nest Classes

This is a bunch of pictures of Mat from her two nest classes over the past few weeks.
Rocking in the arch at tumbling class
Playing in the foam of the "sensory garden". This part of her Thursday play-group/class has a different material every week to help kids build their sensory skills.
"hop, hop, hop"
She loves playing with the ball. I think I'm going to need to get her one.
Mat's art project at Two Curious Birds (her Thursday 9am playgroup/class)
Taking a picture to send to Betsey. I take pictures like this often and then I usually forget to send them.
Running around
a little bit of running and a little bit of hopping
